The Raw Truth On Bragg
More transparency.
Less fiction.
Hey, it’s not easy being one of the first in the wellness world. We’ve been at this for generations, and getting here hasn’t been without some bumps, bruises, and sour-tasting misinformation. But like our apple cider vinegar, we always want to keep things raw and real. We’re diving into some of the cloudy stories about our brand—from ownership, to science, to how we handle our apples (which are always organic)—and exposing the actual truths behind them.
Myth #1
We use Apeel Coating on our apples.

Rumor
“Does Bragg use Apeel coating on their apples?”
Claims circulating online suggesting that our Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is made with apples coated in Apeel or similar coatings.

Fact
No. We do not use coatings like Apeel or Organipeel on the apples used for our Apple Cider Vinegar.
Our raw, organic, unfiltered vinegar is made through a natural fermentation process using fresh, untreated apples—just as it has been for decades. Apples used for Apple Cider Vinegar thrive on natural fermentation. Apeel was created to slow that process, making it harder and longer to make the Apple Cider Vinegar. Which is the LAST thing we’d want.
Myth #2
We sold the brand to Bill Gates.

Rumor
“Does Bill Gates own Bragg?”
Claims being made that Bill Gates bought Bragg Live Foods and changed the ingredients for our apple cider vinegar.

Fact
Nope. Bill does NOT own Bragg and is not partnered with anything we do. Period. End of story.
Swander Pace Capital is the controlling owner of Bragg. They were chosen meticulously and purposefully by Patricia Bragg herself, as she sought out partners who could help spread Bragg’s values into the world and inspire a new generation toward natural wellness.
Myth #3
We Changed our ACV recipe.

Rumor
“Did Bragg change the recipe for their apple cider vinegar?”
In 2023, there were claims that we changed the recipe of our ACV, which reduced potency and removed the “Mother” from bottles.

Fact
Nope. We haven’t changed the recipe since Paul Bragg created it generations ago.
It’s always naturally fermented, always organic, always raw, and always has elements of the “Mother” in every bottle. Any variability you see in their product today is a result of their 100% natural process – and where there are natural products, there’s natural variability. Ain’t science cool!
