Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Drinks Offer Alcohol-Free Alternative to Kombucha Drinks

Santa Barbara, CA — June 18th, 2010
Recent developments concerning the popular drink, Kombucha, has caused its removal from the shelves of leading natural and health food stores nationwide. Kombucha, a popular fermented, sweetened tea beverage sold in natural food stores, are being removed because of concerns over elevated alcohol levels in the beverage.

Bragg Live Foods Products, recognized as the industry leader in the manufacture of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, recently introduced the Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Drink line of ready-to-drink beverages, an alcohol-free, Kombucha-like health beverage made with organic ingredients, including Bragg’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar. The Bragg vinegar drinks sold in health and natural food stores nationwide compete against traditional Kombucha beverages.

“We believe we have a superior health beverage compared to the Kombucha drinks.” “Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Drinks were all formulated to be alcohol-free, keeping the public’s health and safety in mind.” “Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Drinks are the healthful, alcohol-free alternative to the kombucha beverages,” stated Dr. Patricia Bragg, CEO and President of Bragg Live Food Products.

Bragg Live Food Products has been a health food industry leader since 1912 and has never included alcohol in any of their natural food products.  Company founder’s Patricia Bragg and her famous father, Dr. Paul C. Bragg, known as the originator of health food stores, have taken strong stands against the consumption of alcohol due to public health concerns. “Alcohol consumption is not a part of the Bragg Healthy Lifestyle philosophy,” stated Patricia Bragg.

Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar has received much media attention over the past several years. This past year (February 4, 2010) on a special edition of The Oprah Winfrey Show called Diabetes – The Silent Killer.  The television show featured a discussion with Oprah, fitness guru Bob Greene, and popular television physician Mehmet Oz, M.D. about the health benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar in lowering the Glycemic Index of a meal when added to foods, a scientific measure of how fast carbohydrate containing foods raise blood sugar levels.  Low Glycemic Index foods and meals are associated with better blood sugar and insulin level control for diabetics and weight control.  Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar was the brand of Apple Cider Vinegar shown and discussed on the show that would be effective for lowering the Glycemic Index of foods.

Bragg’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Drinks have recently become a very popular health beverage among many Hollywood stars and entertainers such as Cindy Crawford, Megan Fox, Fergie, the Beach Boys, Alec Baldwin and Cloris Leachman.  Pop singer, Katy Perry has proclaimed Bragg  Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Drinks as her “secret of secrets” in her singing career.

The Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Drinks are available in four flavors, Original Organic  Apple Cider Vinegar & Honey, Apple-Cinnamon, Concord Grape-Acai, and Ginger Spice. Two of  the drinks are categorized as Low Calorie and one as Calorie-Free, and are sweetened with a new FDA approved natural, non-caloric sweetener derived from the leaf of the stevia herb which grows in South America.  Bragg is one of the first companies to utilize this new natural sweetener in a national line of health beverages.
