Just in time for the hol­i­days, here’s a new rea­son to get chil­dren to eat their veggies.

Chil­dren who eat a lot of fruit and veg­eta­bles have health­ier, less stiff arter­ies as young adults com­pared to chil­dren who don’t load up on fruit and veg­gies, accord­ing to a new study.

FRESH FRUIT BOUQUET

FRESH FRUIT BOUQUET

1 medium pineap­ple, dice
1 cup grapes, whole
3 oranges
2 fresh pears
2 grape­fruits
soy yogurt (optional)

Chill all fruits. Dice fresh pineap­ple. Peel and sec­tion the oranges and grape­fruits. Remove grapes from stems. Cut un-peeled fresh pears into cubes. Com­bine all fruits and serve in chilled sher­bet dishes. Gar­nish with soy yogurt, if desired.

Serves 4.

Only 14% of U.S. adults and 9.5% of U.S. teens meet the government’s goals for eat­ing enough fruits and veg­eta­bles, accord­ing to a new CDC report.
