One of my favorite annual celebrations in Santa Barbara, California is “Old Spanish Days” — also known as Fiesta. This wonderful tradition dates back to 1924 when the first Fiesta event took place.
One of the biggest attractions at Fiesta is the historic El Desfile Parade which is one of the largest Equestrian parades in the United States. 15 years years ago I was asked to lead the historic parade Equestrian and it was a great honor and so much fun. I have always celebrated Fiesta one way or another and went to my first pre-Fiesta event recently.
The 2010 Old Spanish Days starts August 4th and ends August 8th. The Fiesta Equestrian Parade will be August 6th at 12 noon. There will be many great events to see and here is a link to the events calendar.
Another good event is the Fiesta Stock Horse and Rodeo throughout the days. Here is more information.

I’ve been fortunate enough to visit Santa Barbara twice — it’s such a beautiful place — and the parade video is wonderful — brings back many happy memories
