Registered Dietitians from Dairy Farmers of Canada in collaboration with Dietitians of Canada today released the results of a national survey that revealed that many Canadian adults are not consuming the recommended number of daily servings of any of the four food groups. It was also surprising that, for each of the food groups, a significant number of people reported not consuming any of that food group on the day prior to the survey.

While we are still working out the details, I wanted to let you know that we will be having a recipe contest (using Bragg Live Food Products) which covers MANY categories to include juices made from raw foods and recipes that you can try for yourself for you Thanksgiving and even for your holiday season coming soon!
To make this contest happen, we need some people who are dedicated to helping with this contest! You will be helping to decide which recipes are tested in kitchens as well as helping to test recipes for the contest.

3 cups raw, organic cranberries
⅓ cup almonds, slice
¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
¼ cup apple juice
1 tsp arrowroot powder (dissolve in ¼ cup hot distilled water)
¼ tsp cinnamon
½ cup soy cheese, dice
½ cup raw honey (or Stevia to taste)
soy yogurt (optional)
Cover raw cranberries in distilled water and soak for 2 hours. Then blend until smooth. Add lemon juice, dissolved arrowroot powder, honey, apple juice, cinnamon and almonds. Chill. Then add soy cheese. Pour into wet molds and freeze (about 15 minutes to harden). When hardened and ready to serve, cut into small squares and place on bed of shredded lettuce or sliced cabbage and top with soy yogurt. Serves 4–6.

Mangosteen juice has anti-inflammatory properties which could prove to be valuable in preventing the development of heart disease and diabetes in obese patients. A study, published in BioMed Central’s open access Nutrition Journal, describes how the juice of the exotic ‘superfruit’ lowered levels of C-reactive protein. Dr. Jay Udani, M.D. from Medicus Research, California, worked with a team of researchers to carry out a randomized, double-blind placebo controlled trial.
